In the Gorenjska region, architect Nina Tesanovič (SONO Arhitekti) designed a modern family home that fully reflects the needs of contemporary living. The desire for large glazed surfaces, open views of the landscaped garden and a strong connection with nature called for a carefully considered solution for controlling light and privacy – which is why ROLTEK HERO external Venetian blinds were selected.
The house consists of two offset volumes with slightly sloping flat roofs. One part of the building features a darker anthracite finish, while the other is white. The two volumes are visually connected by a timber façade of vertical slats, adding both dynamism and warmth to the architecture.
Light Control and a Sense of Connection with Nature
Panoramic glazing allows an abundance of natural light into the interior and provides unobstructed views of the surroundings, while also creating the need for effective control of privacy and shading. This function is provided by ROLTEK HERO.3 external Venetian blinds, which enable precise control of incoming light and create a pleasant living environment throughout the day.
The slats, finished in the same colour as the window frames, blend discreetly into the architecture, while the anthracite guide rails further enhance the refined appearance. A distinctive feature of the system is the patented P-shaped slat, which provides a high level of blackout and optimal sun protection.
The system is installed beneath the render, ensuring a clean architectural appearance while helping to prevent thermal bridges and condensation. The integrated solution is installed directly into the window opening, simplifying installation and ensuring precise execution during the final construction stages. Thanks to its in-house powder coating facility, ROLTEK can also perfectly match the colour of the shading systems to the building’s architecture.
Functional Design and Energy Efficiency
The floor plan is clearly and functionally organised, separating private and communal areas while maintaining a seamless flow between them. Bedrooms and workspaces provide privacy and tranquillity, while the living areas form the social heart of the home.
External Venetian blinds also make an important contribution to the building’s energy efficiency. In summer, they reduce overheating by reflecting a significant proportion of solar radiation, while in winter they help reduce heat loss, improving living comfort throughout the year.
Projects like this demonstrate that ROLTEK shading systems are much more than a functional element – they are an integral part of the architectural design, combining aesthetics, comfort and technical sophistication. We approach every solution individually, working together with architects and clients to find the optimal solution for each building.
